Wow what a crazy journey this trip has already been. I am currently sitting in the airport and will be here for the next eight hours while I wait to fly out to NICARAGUA tonight. I left the house a couple of days ago and during those days I have been in Gainsville, Georgia going through leader training and then team training.

We have been preparing for this trip for so long and we are all ready to take a true leap of faith and go on this crazy journey because the one who created all of us, who hung the earth from nothing, who can make the blind see, the hopeless feel hopeful, and who lets the lame walk asked us to go out into the nations and spread His word and we have all answered YES! Leaving my family was really hard. I had to let go of all of my control and trust that the Lord would take care of them. He created them and loves them more than even I do, but trusting Him is still hard though. I have been praying for strength and peace with this now and it gets easier each day.

During these few days in Gainesville we have learned a little bit more about what we will be doing once we arrive in Nicaragua. We will be staying at a compound sort of place and the whole squad will be together, but we will most likely be ministering with just our team. I think we will be sleeping inside for most or the time, but they did say that there might be a couple weeks where we will have to tent. We will also hopefully have one day off a week and that day we will be able to have wifi and communicate with home. On our days off we will also be able to go to the beach and explore Nicaragua! Yesterday during one of our first team meetings my team, Rooted, met and we prayed for our journey, our families back home, and for the hearts and minds of the people in Nicaragua. After we prayed we decided to read some of Jeremiah. The first chapter was exactly what I needed to hear…

“The word of the Lord came to me:
I chose you before I formed you in the womb; I set you apart before you were born. I appointed you A PROPHET TO THE NATIONS.

But I protested, “Oh no, Lord, God! Look, I don’t know how to speak since I am only a YOUTH.”

Then the Lord said to me:
Do not say, “I am only a youth,” for you will go to everyone I send you to and speak Whatever I tell you. Do not be afraid of anyone for I WILL BE WITH YOU TO DELIVER YOU.This is the Lords declaration.”

-Jeremiah 1:4-8
